Kelly is a partner in the Dispute Resolution Group, having joined SGH in April 2009. Kelly qualified as a barrister and solicitor in Australia in 1996, and as a solicitor in England in 1998.

Most of Kelly's work has an international focus and he has broad experience of cross border litigation and arbitration with regards to banking, shareholder disputes, professional negligence, fraud and money laundering. Examples of his experience include:

International Arbitration:

Movieco -v- UPC: Recovering $82 million in an ICC arbitration in Amsterdam for a Disney & Sony subsidiary; Marco Trading -v- Egmatra [1999] 1 Lloyd's Rep 862 regarding arbitration appeals.

·Company/Shareholding Disputes:

Bernie Ecclestone -v- Formula One [2004] EWCA Civ 1512:
acting for Mr Ecclestone; Regentcrest -v- Cohen [2000] 23 CLC 80; Acting for the estate of Vladimir Putin’s former security advisor on a share dilution.

·Banking Litigation:

Lloyds Bank -v- Independent Insurance [1999] 2 WLR 986; Schindler Lifts v Banco Pactual; Acting for Barclays, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland, Commonwealth Bank of Australia.   

Fraud/money laundering:

Petrotrade v Smith [1998] 2 All ER 346. Advising in relation to Stanford International Bank.

Professional Negligence/Breach of fiduciary duty:
