 Edward Judge was admitted in 1987. He gained experience of all aspects of commercial litigation at his family firm and joined SGH in 1998 as a partner, therefore enhancing the existing expertise in insolvency and commercial litigation. He is partner in charge of the Debt collection Department and also had a substantial portfolio of insolvency work. As a member of the Insolvency Department, Edward deals with the whole range of insolvency matters, acting for Insolvency Practitioners as well as for companies in difficulty. He has, over the years, acquired a sharp understanding of commercial issues. He has recently handled major cases of appointments of provisional liquidators, administration orders and freezing injunctions. Edward has also been instrumental in enhancing the firm’s debt collection department, both by bringing with him a number of clients with household names as well as setting up automated systems at the forefront of technology to make recoveries more efficient and cost effective. Edward frequently lectures on insolvency and debt related topics, including general legal updates as well as more complex aspects, such as "The Woolf Reforms and Insolvency", "Debt Collection aspects in Insolvency", "What to do when a Voluntary Arrangement has failed?" and many more specialised subjects. Edward is always eminently practical and solution oriented. This is equally reflected in the articles he regularly contributes to the legal press. Edward is an associate member of the Insolvency Lawyers Association, an associate member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) and vice chairman of the London Branch of the Institute of Credit Management.
