Swine Flu
Swine flu has claimed
increasing numbers of victims in the UK and its toll will only rise. It
is time for employers, HR and MDs, to tackle the issue head on.
Employers who delay in dealing with swine flu and the business
implications may not only have to manage high levels of staff absence
but also may find that those that they do business with may not wish to
deal with them during the epidemic. Many businesses are demanding that
their suppliers provide evidence of their policies to control the
epidemic as a condition of doing business with them at this time.
Employees need to
know how to recognise the symptoms of swine flu and what to do if they
have the symptoms, how to avoid infection and what to do if someone in
their household becomes infected. Employees also need to know whether
or not they will be paid for time off work resulting from swine flu.
We have drafted a
Swine flu policy for employers as a cost effective way for them to deal
with the legal, human and commercial implications of this epidemic. If
employers follow the steps now then they may save money as well as the
lives of their employees
