SGH LLP acts for
McGee Group in acquisition of Bedrock Crushing
Sprecher Grier Halberstam
LLP acted for its long-standing client, the McGee Group, in the recent
acquisition of Bedrock Crushing & Recycled Materials Limited. The
acquisition broadens the McGee Group’s offering to now include major
recycling facilities. Recycling is still one of the growth areas in
construction. With an ever greater focus from industry and the
Government on environmentally-sound practices, it should continue to
grow despite current economic uncertainty. The new business should
enable the McGee Group to more efficiently recycle waste from its many
civil engineering and demolition projects in and around the City of
London, while also further affirming its continuous commitment to best
practice.
Rishi Malliwal,
Corporate Partner in Sprecher Grier
Halberstam LLP who led the team that handled the transaction which
included partners Alok Gangola (corporate) and Michael Shapiro
(property) as well as associate, Neil Emery (employment) said,
“Whilst each transaction
throws up its own unique set of issues to surmount, this transaction had
several which required creative thinking from both sets of legal
advisers. Finding workable solutions to these issues, allowed the deal
to be completed to the satisfaction of our clients.”
Ian Reeves, Chairman
of the McGee
Group said, “When the opportunity to acquire Bedrock Crushing arose, we
assessed this move as being of strategic benefit to the McGee Group and
so had to move quickly. SGH was on board straight away and played a key
role in negotiating a great commercial deal for us and in driving the
transaction forward to completion.”
The transaction
completed in July 2008 and the recycling business is now operational
through McGee Bedrock Limited, the newest member of the McGee Group.
